halloween

Every time I carve a pumpkin I think that the activity will be more difficult than it is, and I fail to plan before cutting.

This year I started by cutting out the eyes and then the nose, at which point it looked a lot like a kitty and I considered whiskers. No, I thought, I’m going to give him the toothy grin; if he looks friendly, so be it.

Then instead of cutting out the negative space between his teeth, I removed half the triangles, giving him a shaggy upper lip. That’s when I remembered that I’ve done this before. Several times. Hello again, Mr. Furry Lip. Out to the porch you go…

I had visits from a scary wrestler, a fairy, a witch, a football player (“DO YOU HAVE ANY CANDY?!”), a bat, and a teeny princess riding a unicorn.

No one mocked my pumpkin.

one shiny fairy and five boys with no costumes. what a let-down.

It’s an awesome pumpkin! I love the blue lights too!

I assumed that no one would come after 7, and so didn’t buy any candy. And then when a few people knocked I had to pretend that we weren’t home. I still feel guilty… 🙁

Now that you live in a “village,” I wondered how many spooky visitors you’d have for tricks/treats. Your jack-o-lantern and blue lights inspire! 🙂

I meant to ask, how did you dress up to greet your visitors?

Great pumpkin! I meant to carve mine (and got a cool one with a kind of slouchy shape) but never did it. We had several visitors, two of them asked for “more” of something. Both were reprimanded, one by a mother hiding in the shadows (who said that?) and one by what I assume was a sister. Now we are eating the leftover candy (of course!).
