mr. toad
We just got back from a little vacation in the Brandywine Valley of Pennsylvania. The highlight for me was visiting Longwood Gardens (although the new Star Treck movie was fun too.)
I’m going to post pictures of Longwood but in the meantime here are some pictures of someone who was discovered on the back patio a week ago:
Isn’t that the best belly?! The impertinence didn’t last long; we released him in a nice weedy patch out of sight of the hawk flying overhead.
Hand modeling thanks goes to Ellen.

Did anyone kiss him, he does look rather princely

No kisses for Sweet Mr. Toad as he was a bit chilly, damp and wormy smelling. In fact the author of this blog didn’t even want to touch him! He was kind enough to “play possum” while we took his pictures.

Roundest toad ever! May I suggest submission to CuteOverload.Com?

btw – he may be the Eastern Spadefoot Toad. They are on the endangered species list. I could be wrong…he could’ve been the American Toad or the Fowlers too, but he wasn’t that warty and he had such a big belly! See what you think:

Last night during a bleary-eyed “why do you have to go potty at 3:00 am?” trip, Happy found a toad on the patio. She was sooooooo excited. Toad – less so. But no injuries!
