My best friend in elementary school started ballet lessons at the age of six and never looked back. She went to an arts high school, studied with famous teachers, and eventually became a professional dancer with one of the most prestigious contemporary choreographers in Europe and performed on stages the world over.
Sigh. I envied her single-minded focus. That wasn’t me, and despite my best efforts it still isn’t.
I knit, take pictures, crochet, design quilts, build websites, embroider, make sculpture, print on fabric, write, sew clothes, bake, draw… Lately I’ve been designing and making lots and lots of jewelry, and it’s brought me as close to a 100% focus as I’m likely to get. I’d call it a 75% focus. I’ll take what I can get.
